In recent years, more people have been returning to the idea that our bodies are wonderful things. They work in a natural way and should be respected and trusted. Their operation should not be hindered by chemicals and alterations. Fertility, in particular, is a pure process that should be embraced, not feared. Children are the result of fertility. They are an amazing gift, the result of a wonderful and complex system.
The practice of Fertility Acceptance is simple. It is a person's choice to not impede their fertility, and the belief that whatever children may result are a part of the natural order. This website is simply a small place where couples can come and feel good about their choice, even though it may be contrary to the general thinking of the world.
Fertility Acceptance ("FA") is not a religious belief, though many religious people/couples may find themselves adhering to its ideals. FA is a secular practice where one understands and accepts that our reproductive systems are designed to work a certain manner, and we should allow them to do so. It is for people who embrace the natural ways of doing things. They understand and believe that our body "know what they are doing", and accept that making children is one of the many things it is designed to do.
It is a fact that couples who practice FA often have large families. Children are a wonderful result of this natural order. While the world will criticize those who have lots of children, the fact is the human mind is a powerful resource, and children are not only wanted, but needed, by the world. Fertility Acceptance embraces this philosophy.
There have been many labels given to those who choose to simply let nature take its course, and not impede infertility. One you hear often is "quiverfull," which is religious in nature. Fact is, many people choose to take a natural approach to fertility as a personal preference, and it may only be a part of, or have absolutely nothing to do with faith or religion. Though the term "fertility acceptance" is not new, we feel that it best describes these beliefs. It succinctly conveys to others a stance on birth control, children, and other like matters. It is a positive statement, void of any spin. Therefore, we feel that the phrase "Fertility Acceptance" is important and should be promoted as a general term that will be descriptive of all men and women who practice this philosophy, instead of other terms which may prove derogatory or misleading.
This website is still in its infancy. We hope to expand it in the future with articles and testimonies of those who practice FA. Until then, be proud to use the term. If you are so inclined, feel free to take one of these graphics, which can be used in blogs, on messageboards, and websites, to show your stance and support of this site and its philosophy.
Please note this site is in no way condemning lifestyle choices which are not in-line with the Fertility Acceptance mindset. Fertility choices are complex and personal, and must ultimately be made by the individual. However, we are here to promote and support the idea that it is perfectly okay, and responsible, to accept one's fertility and let your body do what it was designed to do, without interference.
We thank you for visiting.
